I can't install RP2040 Package in Arduino IDE 2.3.4

I don't know if I'm doing the wrong procedure, but I can't install the RP2040 (earlephilhower) package V4.4.1 in Arduino IDE version 2.3.4 (current).

In the Arduino Preferences window it does not accept the package link.

You'll need to provide some more info for anyone to be able to help. What is the error message text? Where exactly are you pasting in the link? Screenshots would be good for this just to double-check.

Hello Earle. Thanks for the quick response.
No error messages! I copy the link into the Arduino IDE preferences and then click OK.
When I reopen the preferences window, the Link does not appear!
Package is not installed.
I tested it with Arduino IDE 1.8.19 and it worked.
But with IDE 2.3.4 no packages appear from its repository.
Maybe I have to reinstall IDE 2.3.4.

Arduino IDE Settings

The settings that control the behavior of the Arduino IDE application are stored in a file named settings.json:

Windows
C:\Users<username>.arduinoIDE\settings.json
(where is your Windows username)

Linux
~/.arduinoIDE/settings.json

~/.arduinoIDE/settings.json

In my experience, some things get blocked by antivirus/antimalware, stopping you changing, deleting or overwriting them with the new version. MalwareBytes is quite bad for it. Trying again just after a reboot tends to be the easiest way to get around it. If not, you may need to whitelist some files and folders.

Andy, Thank you for your effort in trying to help me.
I removed all Arduino installations (2.3.4 and 1.8.19) on my Windows 10 PC.
I reinstalled Arduino IDE 2.3.4.
On the board manager, the Package Earle RP2040 has now appeared!

Using IDE V2.3.4, I was wanting to update the Arduino-Pico package to version 4.4.2.
When I went to look for the Raspberry Pico (Earle) package I couldn't find it in the Board Manager! (again)
Looking in the Arduino IDE configuration folder (for Windows 10):

The "package_index.json" file does not contain the Raspberry Pi Pico (Earle) package.

I found that the arduino-cli.yaml file contains information about additional board links.
This file is in the folder: C:\Users\jgust\ .arduinoIDE
I edited in the file: arduino-cli.yaml (with VS Code editor)

board_manager:
  additional_urls: [https://github.com/earlephilhower/arduino-pico/releases/download/global/package_rp2040_index.json]

Now the link appears in the preferences window. And I was able to install Arduino Pico Package 4.4.2. (finally)
