Guys, why was it removed from the store?

Superfish malware, supposedly: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/JcLDLSBqvgk It had to do with the ads that the extension adds to pages (you can disable these ads in the extension settings). I never saw the ads anyway (that's what adblockers are for), so I knew nothing about this until one day the extension had suddenly vanished from my browser.

It's a shame, it was one of the most useful extensions. I hope someone uploads something similar to the webstore eventually.

@t4exanadu yep, I've heard about that as well. What confused me is why it was removed instead of just "fixing"

Me too. The developer doesn't seem to be responding to inquiries, and the entire Defer website is gone. The fact that the extension and website are gone suggests that maybe his intentions were less than honest, which confuses me as it was such a nicely designed extension. Why go through all that trouble just to serve people malware/ads?

I actually still have the extension installed. I know it's risky, but I use it all the time. I really hope the checkbox that allows you to disable the ads actually works and isn't bogus.

If anyone knows of a good replacement for Defer, please, please share it here. The official Instapaper extension is just too limited for me.

@t4exanadu I'm using the official one - it's limited indeed but at least it works

I'm thinking of forking this and removing the Superfish JS (as I've already done on my local copy of the extension), and releasing it under a new name. Currently improving my JS skills so that I can make this happen. Assuming, of course, someone else hasn't already done so (I haven't looked). If anyone is interested, let me know, it will encourage me to do it quicker.
