It's probably better to use the sys logger as described in https://serverfault.com/a/434902/178440, this has several bonuses, as on most systems there is automatic log rotation, so /var/log/cron does not fill up the hard disk

Following the instructions at https://github.com/ellite/Wallos?tab=readme-ov-file#baremetal-1 on Debian 12 I get emails with
/bin/sh: 1: cannot create /var/log/cron/sendverificationemail.log: Directory nonexistent
