Can you provide more informations about your use case and how a gesture detector would help?

The use case I identified was that if a user is in a particular page, he should be able to tap the same page's nav icon to perform some task.

For ex in a camera filters app a user can move using these nav icons and when he chooses a filter he can simply click on the icon to capture or long press to record.
This can be done by providing another button on the page but gesture detector on the bottom would look better.
