We might already have an issue open for this somewhere (sorry for not searching first..), but character spaces are inconsistent.

Microsoft did some work on this issue for VSCode, as it used to have the same issue.

Oh, and clearing the screen (ctrl+k) fixes the spacing.

Looks more like a wrong background color than wrong spacing to me, doesn't it?

Could be, but here's the same config on my work laptop. Notice the spacing around the battery/power icon
