PollyMC is unmaintained, use Fjord Launcher Unlocked

One of the PollyMC devs forked it and rebranded it to Fjord Launcher, but Fjord Launcher has DRM like Prism Launcher and can't be used without a Microsoft account.

I am maintaining a DRM-free version of Fjord Launcher at https://github.com/hero-persson/FjordLauncherUnlocked. If you are looking for an maintained, up-to-date alternative to PollyMC that doesn't require a Microsoft account, this is it.

Many thanks mate, will check it out! It was really frustrating to find out that Fjord Launcher reintroduced DRM, which IMO is really missing the mark on why people primairly use launchers with alternative auth systems. There are places where it is quite problematic to get hands on a legitimate copy of Minecraft, and now we have a maintained DRM-free Prism fork again, Again, many cheers!

why is fn2006 offline and pollyMC hasn't been updated since months. Does fjord launcher unlocked contains all the pollyMC features? Also what's the difference between Fjord and PollyMC??

Yes, Fjord Launcher Unlocked has all the features of PollyMC. Fjord Launcher is a direct continuation of PollyMC, but with the DRM added back in. Fjord Launcher Unlocked removes the DRM.

Fjord Launcher fixes several bugs in PollyMC. Basically all of these PRs are merged in Fjord: https://github.com/fn2006/PollyMC/pulls.

PollyMC still has the button to add Mojang accounts but Fjord Launcher (Unlocked) does not have this. But the button stopped working anyway because Mojang's server changed and it doesn't work in PollyMC either.

@hero-persson PollyMC has never managed to update an instance of ATM 9 (the only modpack I've played), I just came here to make a complaint.
Previously with version 0.2.61 there were 431 mods, now 346.

updates and additions did not come out of .LAUNCHER_TEMP, there should be 430 mods in the instance

but I came across this news, does your fork fix this?

What is the difference between FjordLauncher-Windows-MinGW-w64-Setup-8.4.2.exe and FjordLauncher-Windows-MSVC-Setup-8.4.2.exe? I always used MinGW-w64 on PollyMC.

How to migrate your data from PollyMC to Fjord launcher unlocked??

@cauamachado50 I just downloaded and tested it, it seems to be able to update, the only problem is that I leave JourneyMap and JourneyMap Integration disabled (I use xaero), after updating it downloads these mods and does not delete the previous mods, nor does it disable the new ones, so I am left with 2 more mods than the calculations made by analyzing the log of X added and X deleted in the ATM9 update.

edit: it also replaces your config folder, I had set AE2 to have infinite channels, but when updating the instance it returned to default.

@AAK1767 When installing it asked me if I wanted to copy the PollyMC instances to Fjord Launcher Unlocked, I said yes and when it opened the PollyMC instances were there.

I guess we'd need to ask @fn2006 why he has forsaken us and abandoned the project. Who knows, maybe he didn't and is just offline and hasn't caught up yet. There's not really way way of contacting him though so it doesn't seem like there's much hope.

Just a tip, you should have the repo be part of an organization with other members you trust, that way it's less likely your fork will end up like PollyMC when something inevitably happens to you like it did to fn2006 and all the others that came before.
