Wifi AP not created on startup

I just finished installing this on my Raspberry Pi 3. I followed the instructions in the readme file to the letter, but when I reboot the pi, it won't create the wifi access point. When I try running the netconnectcli start_ap command to manually create an ap, I get the following error message:

  error while processing message from client

What could be causing this?

Sorry, the only thing i can suggest is to take a look into the server log. I do not have time to maintain this project for the foreseeable future.
