Six islands (or in the case of St. Maarten, a part of the island) in the Caribbean are territories of the Kingdom of the Netherlands:
These were formerly known as the Netherlands Antilles, but in 2010(?) the status of the islands changed. See ISO 3166-1 NEWSLETTER VI-8. The first three obtained more independence, the last three chose to become 'special municipality' comparable to municipalities in mainland Netherlands. In the ISO standard this is correctly listed and there are currently 4 entries for the 6 islands: Aruba, Curaçao, St. Maarten and the last three are grouped as "Bonaire, St. Eustatius, Saba" (BES, code
BQ
).So the issue is that you have given the latter three territories one flag, namely the Bonaire flag. However, Saba and St. Eustatius also each have their own flags. As they are part of the Netherlands, I would propose to give BES the NL flag instead. This is also done on the Wikipedia page ISO-3166-1.
Ideally, the region flags could be made available through new method
GetRegionEmojiFlag()
which would mean that new data for all regions needs to be searched.Beta Was this translation helpful? Give feedback.
