I realized that you implemented some commands that provide basic functionality when compared to full packages focusing on the same thing. These commands sometimes conflict with the regarding package. For example

\newcommand{\todo}[1]

conflicts with package "todonotes" which also offers e.g. a to-do list. The best solution would probably be to remove this functionality and add example "usepackage" lines in "main.tex" instead.

Would you be able to produce an update version of the template with those commands removed and replaced by other packages, and test it on one of the pool computers in the department?

I use the class for my PhD thesis, so I will update my fork at least. Testing is another story, since I do not have an account. (You have to be a regular student, don't you?)
