Use Cases

I want to improve the swipe keyboard algorithm.

I've done 80+ words on the swipe trainer but would like to help FUTO more consistently, with higher quality training data.

Proposal

Add an opt-in mode for sending swipe training data to FUTO.

Opting in would sending my swipe data, messages and corrections to Futo.

Users would enable it when they know they are not typing anything private.

Critical

  • It should be quick and easy to toggle
  • it should be immediately obvious to the user when it is active (red color keys, or red colour swipe)

Enhancements

  • Allow users to see data file before submitting
  • Be clear how long data is kept for, and allow user to auto expire and delete data from Futo after a period of time, e.g. 3 months, 6 months, 1 year.

"Alice opts-in to Futo swipe data collection when messaging grandma, or ordering groceries. She wants Futo to keep her swipe data and corrections from actual in-app use in order to make Futo keyboard better.

She can turn it on and off with a single press, and it visually warns her when not operating in the default private mode.

Alice can see what data is sent, and trusts Futo to delete it after it has been used to train the system, or 6 months, whichever is sooner. "
