Installation script doesn't work. Problem due to running as root.

Take the logic from the install and combine it with add functionality.

I just came to this repo to file a ticket but realized it was a dupe of #3. Are you close to fixing this, or do you need help? I'm willing and able but don't want to repeat work you've already done.
