TO BE ADDED

Based on the suggestion here: gbif/registry#247

This is currently not a feature on GBIF.org and therefore has no verbatim values.

Here is a file to edit:

It contains:

  • the list of existing concepts
  • a list of the values already mapped to the concepts (they are all in the Hidden sheet/tab for now
  • the GBIF verbatim values for this field that appear more than 10,000 times or in 5 or more datasets

Please check instructions here: #70

Considerations relevant for dataset categories.

E.g. machine based observations (individual tracking data):

As an example, it is natural to organise machine detections of tagged individuals as sample events, but these samples are of tagged individuals and not of local biodiversity - importing these data as sample events in GBIF/ALA implies suitability for purposes they cannot support.

Categories in terms of relevance:

Note that it might be appropriate for GBIF and other aggregators to offer separate views, with different data commitments, for use in biodiversity monitoring and e.g. for use as a global virtual natural history collection.
