[instagram-feed] 'Login to Instagram' not working anymore

Dear devs,

Besides the fact that my Instagram feed plugin doesn't automatically refresh (and never has) It now won't even manually log-in for an auth token anymore.

Now when I click 'Login to Instagram' it takes me to a website error message saying:
Invalid request: Request parameters are invalid: Invalid redirect_uri
The URL box says: https://www.instagram.com/oauth/authorize/third_party/error/?message=Invalid%20request%3A%20Request%20parameters%20are%20invalid%3A%20Invalid%20redirect_uri

At this point, it is completely unusable!

I logged into the 'apps & websites' area of Instagram and noticed this message:
The Instagram Basic Display API will be discontinued on 4 December 2024. After that date, access to the Instagram Basic Display API and your historical usage of it will no longer be available. Download your information now if you'd like to keep it.

Does this mean that Instagram Feed will never work again? I really hope something can be done because I need this functionality for my website! Thank you

It's a shame they are removing support for Basic Display API. The new API ONLY works with business and creator accounts. I will check out what this will involve and see if it's possible to recreate the same functionality with the new API. I'll let you know in this ticket what I find out.

BTW, according to the docs it should work through December 4th, and if nothing changed on your end, the redirect should work fine also. The error indicates an invalid redirect URI, did that change for you:?

@rhukster It used to work, I'd have to manually do it about once per month (Because the automatic renewal never worked for me anyway) It used to take me to a page to authorise the access. The link that you press initially hasn't changed, but Instagram just doesn't accept that URL anymore.

I've removed personal information from that link of course.
