Just like osmfr, already proposed, or CyclOSM, already active, https://tile.openstreetmap.de could be added to the featured tile layers on openstreetmap.org.
Are you interested in that? Do you think your servers could bear the load?

I am not sure about the soft criteria Unique and Interesting

I think the latin l10n features of this style are almost certainly "Unique and Interesting" while the slightly different colour-scheme is probably not.

This said I am not that sure if the two servers will stand the additional load.

Are there any estimates how many additional tiles per minute I would have to expect?

E.g. based on the other non default layers?

I already have about 25000 tile requests per minute currently on each of the servers.

I've asked on OSM France since @cquest likely has some data for CyclOSM and Humanitarian.

I wonder if OSM couldn't cache tiles for the other layers. It shouldn't increase their load a lot since the user doesn't usually display two layers at the same time.
