OpenCV basically works out of the box, but

Java support is very limited
the jar is huge, 80 MB
there is no way for a real camera identification to attach its settings to (switching to other USB ports changes camera indexes)
changing and reading back camera props works somehow async and not predictable, at least on Windows
users experienced crashes with virtual capture devices from OBS studio, see Crash on Windows with OBS Studio installed but no USB cam #13
