Instead of introducing manual register and unregister steps (so, effectively, install and uninstall) with this proposed portable edition of HashCheck, why not just have one step of using and running a hashing utility that's standalone, registration-less, and leaves no traces behind to begin with? An application that can only be accessed by embedding itself into the system (as far as context menus and properties dialog tabs) and an application that's portable seem like competing goals.
To answer your questions, no, I'm not aware of such a portable version and, yes, someone certainly could implement that. You could roll your own, even, by grabbing HashCheck.dll and having register/unregister scripts with the appropriate invocations of regsvr32.exe, just like the installer does.
Is there a portable version of HashCheck?
It should allow dynamic WinExp context menu registration on-the-fly (and later dyn. de-registration)
without leaving any traced.
If this is currently not the case: Could such an option be implemented?
Thank you
Ben
