Update:
Today the error is gone, I don´t know what happends.
So no more an issue.

I use Birdtray under Ubuntu 22.04 Mate and till yesterday all was fine.
Since today Birdtray show one unread message, but all are read.
I delete the config in /home/.config, no change, I purge and reinstall, no change.
I copy the config from an other machine, where all is fine, no change.
So what is going on here.
Thanks for reading
DH

I'll second that.

I'm getting 4 unread messages indicated by Birdtray that are not there since ~4 days now.
I've also tried to recreate configuration without any effect.

Thunderbird is v102.13.0, Birdtray is v1.10.0 looking at one single inbox folder of my mail account.

Seeing same also. Tbird 115, updated to latest birdtray today 1.11.4 shows 3 messages unread there are none.

Same here after changing from Debian Bookworm to Mint 22 yesterday. Thunderbird is version 128.1esr, Birdtray is 1.12.4 that I built yesterday. It's always showing 1 unread message. Interestingly it's from one of my two Outlook/Office365 email addresses, I'm not getting any false notifications from Gmail, Yahoo Mail or my one POP3 account on Juno.com. I found that out by changing the notification colors for each email provider.

BTW I fixed it. For some reason I had notifications enabled for 3 outlook inboxes when I only have 2 mail accounts from them. I deleted the first one and Birdtray is working as expected with no more false notifications. I have no idea where that extra inbox came from. Others who have multiple email accounts and are getting false notifications may want to do what I did: change the notification color for each inbox so they can tell which one is sending the false notifications then look at the inboxes they've selected and delete one at a time for that email provider until Birdtray stops blinking, then you know which one was causing the problem. You can add the others you've deleted back again.
