Status of the Project

Hi Guys,
I have always liked Hyperic, it's powers it's only matched by the simplicity, but sadly since VMware bought it, it's seems like Hyperic has died, or at least in comma.

Could you share:

• What it's the OpenSource status of Hyperic? May I fork it without any fear to a lawsuit?
• May I use it as the engine of another protect?
• do you have any roadmap available?
• is there any future in the OSS version?
• should I start looking for an alternative?

Good news, tomorrow we are going to release 5.8.5 version.
This release has many bugs and security fixes, so please wait another day :)

HQ is open source so you can use it.

We try to release a new release every 3-4 months, however due to a new struts framework it took us more than expected.

Wow,
That was fast. So you only need a better PR :)

The only thing I miss is the standalone agent mode in HQ. Do you think it will be ever available? At the moment I'm thinking in building a 0MQ proxy to bypass this.
