Sync with autosave slows down vim

I'm using this plugin with 'vim-auto-save' and wheneve I'm editing the file vim slows down significantly. I thought of disabling "g:jupyter_ascending_autowrite" and then map the sync to some key but I can't find any mention to doing this in the help files.
