Are you sure this is caused by VirtualBuddy? I've had this issue in the past due to Universal Clipboard. I copied a large file on my Mac with an iPhone logged into the same iCloud account nearby, I could see Clipboard sharing between host and VM does not use the filesystem (at least not directly), it's a direct serial pipe between the two, so I think it's more likely that this was caused by Universal Clipboard, but I can definitely do some tests here to see if I can reproduce. |

NOT sure, as I simply said "I think it might be related to Clipboard sharing in the GuestApp." I have no idea what was actually happening. Posted here because I've never seen anything like this while copy large files, ever. And I had JUST upgraded to Sonoma and also was using VB and the new clipboard sharing was on, that's all. Could have also been related to being Remoted in to the Host via Google Desktop Sharing... which was also running on the Host, so could have been that process doing this, and thinking I'd be pasting to my Laptop (which is where I was using VNC to remote into the host). You can delete this thread if you want. I was thinking of doing that anyway, but you had already replied. |

I'm asking here, because although I just upgraded to Sonoma, I think it might be related to Clipboard sharing in the GuestApp. I needed to copy hundreds of GB from one external SSD to another external SSD, both connected to the Host. I was remote'ing into the Host, so was unclear which OS a pop-up window belonged to, but I was doing Copy (Large VM file, or large Photos Lib) I then saw some kind of 'Preparing to copy... with a progress bar, that wasn't moving, and hadn't ever seen a window like this before. It reminded me of the pop you see sometimes when clipboard sharing from an iPhone to a Mac ... Copying from iPhone 14 Pro ... kinda of pop-up. Anyway, I cancelled. Eventually started copying the files OK. But then I got SSD is full errors, and it was my Host SSD, not either of the external drives involved with the copy. /private/var/folders/ took ½ my SSD space. Rebooted, and it all cleared up fine. I have a feeling maybe these files were moving to the clipboard to be shared, and that's why it wrote so much data to my Host SSD, and filled it 100%. In any case, I really appreciate your work on this. It's very much a part of my everyday Mac expereince as my VM runs all my apps that need to be behind a VPN!
