1.2.0 - I think this one added the requests we need
1.1.0 - I think this one added support for v1 CID's
1.0.0 - I think this one doesn't even support v1 CID's

I've asked around, this sounds accurate.

I also got the tip to look into the Protocol Buffers changes. The changes for 1.2.0 are here: ipfs/go-bitswap@b3a47bc#diff-60ac6b4081391c8616bb155da7e1aade25d873ecd22cca19c4d5045702a228d9
