Its second hand so not so shiny, but yes.

Also I could not install devtools because a bunch of linux libraries were missing, any idea on an easy fix in case this comes up again on a course?

You can install deps from shell e.g. https://rtask.thinkr.fr/installation-of-r-3-5-on-ubuntu-18-04-lts-and-tips-for-spatial-packages/
