I tried installing printer-driver-gutenprint with
RUN apt install printer-driver-gutenprint
but it fails as it depends on the debian cups package. Do you have any suggestion on how to install it without the debian package?

What's the specific error message its giving? I can add any missing packages to the fake package list

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
printer-driver-gutenprint : Depends: cups-client (>= 1.3.0) but it is not going to be installed

ok, install should work. I don't know for sure that the package works but its worth a try (it should as I build cups virtually identical to the debian packages)

right now the fix is only on the latest tag, i'm putting in another change to make it easier to add more fake packages though once I confirm that works i'll fix the beta as well as 2.2.7 and 2.3b4 tags

It seems to be working, I can't test printers just yet but cups is finding the .so.2 of the driver just fine
