Restrict API Output Formats

When using the resource and resources method Locomotive can output the response in various formats, like HTML, XML, and JSON. If I want to disallow one or more of the formats, lets say HTML, and XML, how can I do that?

I only want to output JSON and I want the other extensions to cause an error, but I want to filter between the route having a .json extension and not.
