For all this year 2022, we have seen a collapse in the price of cryptocurrency market. In my understanding this is consequence of inflation showing in USA and other countries. As a consequence of this inflation, central banks are raising interest rates, therefore there is less money in the market and VCs and institutional investors are leaving their crypto investment to, instead, bailout companies in Nasdaq and other stock markets. Add to this, the plans for limiting crypto in banks balance sheets https://finbold.com/bank-for-international-settlements-to-allow-banks-to-keep-1-of-reserves-in-bitcoin/ so in my understanding, institutional investors are leaving crypto market, probably for good. And this explains current prices collapse.
However, there will probably be another expected side effect. As long as fiat currencies get more inflationary, citizens can be looking back to crypto as a mean of preseve their weatlh. And crypto can emerge, this time fuelled by citizens instead of institutional investors.
If we join both ideas, I would guess that there will be a switch in the nature of investors. And this applies to how ICOs are run, who will be the target investor, what requirements there will be in AML prevention, registration, marketing, approaching investors....
Has anyone thought about this?
