Is there a file named genmon.log or genloader.log or gensev.log in the /var/log folder? If so then post the contents here. If these files are not present then genmon is not being loaded on boot. Did you answer yes when the install script prompted to start on boot? No issues with ubiquity products. |

You will have to wait several minutes for the web interface to load if you are not connected to the generator. About 80 modbus transactions will need the occur before the web interface will be allowed to connect the genmon. These 80 transactions will all timeout if you are not connected. Reboot your system and wait 10 to 15 min, then bring up the web interface. Genmon will delay starting about a minute on boot the allow the IP stack to come up. Then you have to wait for the modbus timeouts since you are not connected to the generator via serial. |

just genmon.log. But just restarting and waiting for 10 min will likely bring up the web interface. If you are connected and communicating with the generator genmon will start 30 seconds after boot and the UI will come up after around 10 seconds. |

I've tried restarting and waiting for 20 minutes, still no web interface. Next step may be bringing it out to the generator, but I'm worried there could be an actual issue if the web interface never becomes available. |

The error in Externally-Managed is expected. I have that on my system also. I did notice that your pi uses is prompted for the root password. Did you manally create the pi user and is this user in the sudo group? what is the output of this command: this should show the users in the sudo group. On my raspbrrry pi bookworm test system I created a user named pi during the imaging process and when I use the sudo command with the pi user I am not prompted for a password. How did you create the pi user on your system? The startup script that starts genmon will use the sudo command. I am wondering if this is the difference between out setups? Another difference is my debian 12 Raspberry pi OS test system is running the 64 bit version. I have a 32 bit version running Debian 11. |

I created using pi is in the sudoers group. I could try flashing 64bit. I did 32bit just because that's what the rpi imager suggested (and appears to be what HandDadTV used as well) |

I have seen strange install issues that pop up from time to time. To date you could always work around them by using the other build (32 or 64 bit). When you reinstall, try creating the use pi from the imager, then add your other user after, assuming you did not do that already. |

The rpi imager won't let me install 64 bit, might be a restriction of the 0w. I did do a reinstall with the pi user from the imager. Still no web interface. Here's the output of the install |

also, I assume that if you start the environment: source genenv/bin/activate Then type this from the genmon folder that should work. Please validate that and let me know. |

I found and fixed the issue. I installed the latest 32 bit version and it looks like the package pyopenssl has been updated and has a bug in it. I updated the install to use the version from earlier in 2024 and it looks like it works. to update, from the genmon directory type: It will prompt you if you want to continue to update so press 'y' to continue. After the update you can restart and you should be good to go. Let me know if you have any issues. |

I have been following this thread since Im getting the same/similar 'Unable to access web interface" I did follow the tutorial video from HandyDadTV. I just try your last command but Im getting this, by the way first time for me using a Pi , sorry admin@genmon:/home/pi/genmon $ ./genmonmaint.sh -u Maybe I have a permission problem |

How did you install genmon? Did you use git to put the files on your pi or did you copy them to your pi? If you did the latter then, yes you have a permission problem. These are the steps: https://github.com/jgyates/genmon/wiki/3.3--Setup-genmon-software Let me know if you still have an issue. |

I follow the 3.3 setup, with couple of minor additions like creating the pi directory..and adding sudo before the clone process.... To start doing the git clone, the instructions say "make sure you are in the /home/pi directory, then type: git clone https://github.com/jgyates/genmon.git" Looks like the "pi" directory is not there, did you omit that on the steps ? admin@genmon:/ $ cd /home/pi admin@genmon:/ $ ls -ld /home admin@genmon:/home $ ls -la admin@genmon:/home/pi $ git clone https://github.com/jgyates/genmon.git admin@genmon:/home/pi $ sudo git clone https://github.com/jgyates/genmon.git |
