It would be nice to be able to see all of the offers that exist so far. I'm imagining that on the main page (logged in -- showing the search bar) that when you hit enter in the search bar with nothing in the field, it displays a list of all of the current offers ordered by the most recent (other ways to order it to requested in future) on top.

I'd like to expand on that a bit.
I think we should have a listings page that simply shows all the offers available by default (maybe limited by community if there's more than X offers & requests in that community)... but the primary case being we show a big list by default, so users can browse, and then we also give them the search form and tools so they can focus on just what they're looking for right now.
I'd also propose a design / layout similar to how Mass Mosaic presents this type of information: https://massmosaic.com/tiles
If we're integrating image uploading, yes. Also, we must consider title
lengths if we do the tile-style.
If image uploading for offers isn't priority (and honestly, I don't think
it ought to be, especially for things like services where it doesn't really
matter), I'd advocate a simpler craigslist-style search results. You get
to see a lot more results much more quickly.
I'm not entirely tied to one or the other though.
