As our company adopts k8s, as the IT team leader, it has fallen on me to first learn it and train the other team members on how to use it. I have been fortunate to find your lessons, and want to thank you for such well thought out and educational presentations. I've learned more through this training than anywhere else combined.

With that said, in your lessons you suggest a series of " nice to have helper tools" (example https://2021-03-lke.container.training/#21).

I have followed every official set of installation instructions on these topics, but try as I might, I simply cannot get them to work or work as expected. As my other team members struggle to do the same, I'm at a loss as to how to help them since I am having problems myself.

It would be great if you could dedicate a slide or two or a few minutes to your videos on how to set these up? Maybe even provide a script so that each student can instantly have access to these helpers and jump right into your videos. As it stands now, I skip this part because trying to help team members set it up so we all have the same environment to work from easily eats up our "lunch and learn" meetings. Just a suggestion. Thanks again for the great content!

Hi!

That's a good point. I don't have detailed instructions for all these tools, because there are so many different environments to cover: Linux, Mac, Windows; and for each major environment, there can be variations depending on the distribution, or whether one uses homebrew or something else (on Mac) or Chocolatey or something else (on Windows), or even WSL...

However, I have put together a container image called "shpod" that embeds most of these tools for an easy experience. It's not perfect, but you might find it helpful. Check https://github.com/jpetazzo/shpod for more details.

Thank you!
