variable_start_random_placement_max causing prints on front left corner of bed

I tried setting variable_start_random_placement_max to a couple different values like 2 and 30, and after a few prints it seems like it's causing the prints to be shifted to the extreme front left corner of the bed.

I interpret the description of this variable such that it should only vary the part origin by +/- the value of the variable. So for a value of 2, it would in the +/- 2,2 region in the center of the bed. Is this correct?

Or is it possible that I have some bed dimensions setting incorrect somewhere?
