I've been trying to use home row mods on Windows using a mechanism like the "advanced" example with the GACS ordering.
One thing I find myself doing sometimes is accidentally holding down "a" or "s" (mapped to LGUI-LMET / LALT) or the mirrored "l" and ";" long enough for it to register as a hold only to realize that I didn't want to use that modifier. When I release the key, it triggers the start menu (LGUI-LMET) or the app menu in many applications (LALT). I'd sort of like to disable both behaviors, but I couldn't find a way to do this. I was originally thinking that
tap-hold-release-timeout
with a NOP timeout action could do the job. But that extra action appears to be triggered when the hold timeout is reached rather than by the release of the "hold" action without any other keys pressed. Is there some mechanism that I'm missing? One workaround I've discovered is to just hold a second modifier (e.g., LCTL) and then release both keys. Maybe that ends up being good enough.
