Double tap a key to cycle layers and display aliases

Hi,

1. How can, say ESC, to get tapped fast to cycle between the layers?
2. How can one assign double tapping a specific key to switch to a specific alias? Say I want to double tap 'n' to go to num alias as seen in @jtroo's configs in

   kanata/cfg_samples/jtroo.kbd

   Line 9 in f3e6b7f

   (defalias

   .
3. How can the current layer alias in 1 and 2 above be displayed somewhere in a bar or in form of notifications in tiled-window-managers like herbstluftwm?

3. There is no builtin support for this but people have used the TCP server integration to do this

I tried with defining a new alias to switch the mouse-layer as follows:

(defalias
    td (tap-dance 200 (h C-c (layer-switch mouse-layer) esc))
)

but pressing hh crashed kanata with the following error:

h^C12:13:23.2445 [ERROR] failed poll: Os { code: 4, kind: Interrupted, message: "Interrupted system call" }

I am sure I am doing something wrong, but do not know what? Thanks in advance.
