Hi @kaneorotar ,

I'm attempting to unlock the V35 Thinq phone based on your instructions.

However, on Windows I get this error. Could you help me?

Looks like it is having problem connecting to the COM port. If the COM device does show up in device manager when this is happening, try to make sure you are running QFIL with Admin privileges.

@kaneorotar Yes, it was an issue with the cable or more about the connector on the LG phone, where it disconnected.

However, I've been able to root the phone.

The only additional step I had to do was first downgrade the device - fingers crossed and passed the Antirollback check - to Android 9 and then the guide worked.

Is there a way to get fastboot mode on the LG devices? I'd like to port the PostmarketOS there and will need to flash the partitions. The LG UP allows to flash only the files signed by LG, right?

I recall you can simply do adb reboot fastboot or adb reboot bootloader

Upon checking, the instructions do mention a way to get you into fastboot.

(Optional) Clear the laf_a partition (backup recommended). You will then be able to enter fastboot mode by press and holding Vol+ when booting. (laf_a holds the image for the LG Download mode and falls back to fastboot when failing to enter Download mode)

Unfortunately the adb approach does not work. The phone just reboots.

I'll check the other one by clearing the laf_a partition. I assume I should do the same (backup+erase) also for the slot b.

I've backup the partition and the zero it out with dd of=/dev/block/by-name/laf_a if=/dev/zero, same for the slot b.

However, neither the up or down + power button get me into the fastboot mode. Also the command adb reboot bootloader does not work with the laf partitions wiped.

But now I'm also not going into the LG download mode for the LGUP.

Should I flash there the engineering bootloader?
