Details on calendar

Would like to understand with more granularity, the point of the calendar. I'd love to be on the calendar tab and see which tasks are due that day, but it looks as if maybe there is only color coding that may differ from day-to-day? Is there a way to click on a specific day to zoom on on those tasks that are due? I referenced the documentation and didn't see anything aside from essentially being able to navigate from one year to the next.

Would even be cool if there was some kind of hook in place that, when you pressed "enter" it went back to the task tab and added a filter string to the date selected or something like that.
