The regression affects only stablew-rc/linux-4.14.y and it's not an issue in mainline anymore.

v4.14 is close to EOL, the report hasn't picked up the interest of the original patch authors so it'll most likely be abandoned.

Possible task: run the test with a kernel built with a revert of the culprit patch and see if it passes. If it does, fire the patch to stable.
