Something incorrectly holds on to "focus" state when sending messages with keyboard shortcut

If you type in a message and then hit ctrl-return to send you would expect the UI on the page to then be idle... but if you reload the page at this point the browser will say "leave page?" like you are still interacting with a text field or something, which you are not.
