• World Smelting being finicky

Can you summarise exactly how world smelting is planned to work please? Is it dropped items or placed blocks, or both? (Just wondering whether we wait for a fix and look to embed this feature totally replacing standard furnaces when it is ready, or just treat it as an interesting addition as and when it happens).

I know a few releases ago, with the discovery that Lycanites mobs allowed plain air to smelt (!), it seemed to be working: has that changed?

It does work, sometimes. And I haven't figured out why the sometimes happens. It is supposed to smelt blocks to other blocks. So only recipes where blocks are the input and the output will the smelting happen.
