Required & Optional Software

1. Required Software for Running iDynoMiCS

iDynomics requires the following software and toolkits. The following sections explain each of these in turn. If you are reading the PDF version of this tutorial on screen, the links take you to the relevant pages on the iDynoMiCS wiki on github.

• A. Java Platform Development Kit (JDK) for developing, compiling and testing Java programs

• B. The Latest Release of iDynomics

• C. ImageMagick for modifying and converting output images and movies (used by some Matlab scripts)

• D. Matlab

• E. POV-Ray for rendering images

• F. Eclipse Classic SDK

Optional Software

Also, you could use the following:

• R for statistical computing (we have been using version 2.16)

• SciTE, a text editor (good for xml, java, etc.)

• Gifsicle for creating, cropping, optimizing animated gifs (we have been using version 1.62)

• IrfanView, a fast graphic viewer, converter, etc. for Windows
