matlab r2008b on windows 8 64bit VS2008

I get "invalid mex file" errors whenever I try to run something with mexopencv. I tried everything in the instructions.

Are you running VS2008? There is an unknown compatibility issue with VS2008 + Matlab + OpenCV. No resolution is currently found. Try obtaining a newer version of Matlab and Visual Studio.
