Why is the sync taking so long? #490

What is the current behavior?
Sync has been running for more than 24 hours and is only at ~43%... I have 200Gb/s Internet and the wireless connection is ~54Gb/s. Hard drives are very fast and plenty of free space. The CPU is an 8 core monster running at maybe 3-4% utilization.

There's no reason why this should be so slow.

What is the expected behavior?
When I started running the sync, the ETA was 12 hours or so... But that has only increased over time, even as the % complete increases.
Please tell us about your environment:
- Operating System: Windows 10

IBD takes at least 4 days - so 43% after 24h is quite fast
