Google are killing another product (as they love to do). https://support.google.com/maps/answer/14169818
Deadline is 15 May 2025.

OwnTracks seems like a well-recommended open-source alternative.

To do before deadline:

Configure OwnTracks server
Try to migrate historic data from google to OwnTracks
Setup phone to use server
