Matrix Host Editing
The hedit
command is used to create and modify Matrix hosts in the OLC system. The syntax for this command is hedit <host_number>
, which edits the host with the given vnum. For building the host, this generator is a useful reference.
This is the title of the host.
This is the link to the host's parent.
Generally, all hosts should be arranged in a hierarchy such that a regional telecommunications grid (RTG) is at the top, with local telecom grids (LTGs) below it. Private local telecom grids (PLTGs) may be attached to either RTGs or LTGs. SR3 Matrix p46-48 describes the telecom grid system in more detail.
These are the keywords that users can CONNECT to. Make sure at least one keyword is reflected in the description of each host that allows connections to this one-- or at least put a clue in the physical area's description to tell people what the keyword is. Remember, if players can't access it, there's no point in building it.
This is the host's description. As mentioned in the Keywords section above, you must include information about what hosts can be accessed from here. This information should be in prose form (ex: if you can connect to CITY and FOREST from here, you might write "You see the glimmering lights of a city in the distance" and "The rustling of trees emanates from the nearby forest".
This allows you to specify the security color, numerical rating, and intrusion difficulty. These values are described in SR3 Core p205. Note that intrusion difficulty is currently not implemented.
This allows you to specify the type of host. Only LTG, RTG, and PLTG are implemented at this moment; the others may be set to identify the host type to builders who work on it.
This sub-menu allows you to specify the host's subsystem ratings. Subsystem ratings are essentially the target number for specific classes of unauthorized actions in the host. These ratings are described in more detail in SR3 Core p205-206.
Allows specification of scramble ratings and trapdoors for this host. If a scramble rating is set, the host slowly becomes harder over time. Trapdoors are 'secret passages' to other hosts, specified by vnum (0 for no trapdoor).
TBD
This menu allows you to add, delete, and view exits. To create an exit, you must know the vnum of the host you wish to allow exit to, and you must have an 8-digit phone number in mind that the exit can be assigned (ex: 9206-1105).
This specifies the message printed when a shutdown is initiated on the host.
This specifies the message printed when a shutdown is aborted on the host.
