Risk Statement:

If the PEPS-II system is not available for purchase, we could experience a large schedule impact as we identify and procure an alternative system.

Risk Effects:

We have experience with the PEPS-II system from MagAO-X so have software in place that works with the system. We know where we can buy it, and we know the approximate cost. Any new system would involve exploration of capabilities, identification of vendors, and a currently unknown lead time. Once in hand, we would need some time to get experience with the system and to set up for its operations.

Technologies such as the PEPS-II active air leveling system are not guaranteed to stay on the market and are not guaranteed to be in stock when we are ready to make a purchase. The longer we wait to make our purchase, the greater the risk that we will not be able to get what we need on our schedule.
