Add custom variable to product

I see in "Store Information" there is area for custom variables. Is it possible to add a custom field to products to be able to display on frontend?

Reason for this is all my products are displaying price as $0 because they all use the printing technique matrix for qty discounts.

If there could be a field that would say "Display Price" so I could even write a range of prcing would solve this problem.
