What’s Page Builder

Page Builder introduces an intuitive, drag-and-drop interface for creating digital content, powered by content types like images, videos, banners etc. with instant preview capabilities that enable non-technical users to take control of their content. It allows to create new pages, enrich products and categories, and launch content updates quickly and easily without the help of a front-end web developer.

Core Team Roadmap

Page Builder core team is focusing on enhancing Page Builder offering as a framework and building a strong ground base for extending it with new content types:

Phase 1 - Layout Optimization for Mobile Devices

  1. Full Screen only Page Builder mode: discontinue Page Builder editing inside the Admin Panel forms
  2. New Application Frame for Page Builder: update Page Builder application frame to accommodate authoring for mobile experience
  3. Columns layout optimization: enable new content layout options that required for mobile authoring
  4. Column grid layout optimization for different viewports:allow business user to switch between viewports an adjust layout for each viewport separately

Phase 2 - Content Preview on desktop and mobile devices

  • Content preview on different viewports with all storefront styles applied before saving changes
  • Saving unpublished changes as draft
  • Share link to draft page with colleagues to get approval

Community Roadmap

Community can help with addressing the most critical issues that complicate Page Builder adoption and increase number of content types available out of the box.

Phase 1 - Address issues that affect content migrated from Magento WYSIWYG to Page Builder

  • Eliminate Row wrapper that breaks migrated into Page Builder content
  • No default Row in Page Builder content

Phase 2 - Extend Page Builder with new content types

  • Menu content type
  • Slider as a container for other content types
  • Banner with multiple links
  • Images lazy loading
