When I looked at this previously, Windows was not a supported OS. It would be great if we could extend to that platform also.

@davidlrosenblum - I have been working on this and made some progress using the MSYS2 framework (which is one of a number of attempts to provide GNU/Linux dev tools in Windows). It's very futzy and I'm not there yet - but just to let you know.
