Problem: doesn't it drive you crazy when an asset installation Folder is very different from the actual asset Name? Worse yet, I've encountered two different assets that actually resolved to the same installation folder!

Request: Please display in the asset description its actual installation folder, perhaps also its total file size. If the requirement is that the asset be installed first, that's totally acceptable.

I'm a bit confused on this request....

When I went to my vault, and clicked on Accessibility Design (i.e. the Vault item that is now has a green border) the details page comes up. Line 2 has the size, and line 6 has the path to where the vault asset is currently located.

The last part of the vault asset location is the name of how it will be installed, so in this case if this was an asset for a project it would be installed in a path inside the Content folder of the project you wanted to install it into with the name "Researchf194b385fc0bV1".

A couple things:

  1. I can't list where it will be installed, because you can install it in any number of projects and each version would have a different path, I can tell you the final piece of it easily (i.e. the Researchf194b385fc0bV1) but where you plan to install it kinda impossible for me to know. 😀

  2. I do plan on listing assets inside of projects/engines (already have most the code done), so that I can detect updates to them.

  3. You can also optionally prefix the install directory, see: https://github.com/master-technology/AssetManagerStudio/wiki/Notes-Hidden-Settings

Is there something I missing or do I not understand your request?

Oh I get you! I failed to see the above since I clean out my Vault regularly, me being such a miser about disk space.
My request, if its not too much trouble, is to copy the Size and Location information from the Vault entry into the actual Asset entry (the requirement being that the asset needs to be installed at least once). That way the asset can be located quickly within a project's Content folder via the app's Asset entry, even if its Vault entry were to be erased.

Well, actually I plan on having a sub-screen on the project where it can show you all assets it has installed (that way I can tell you if any of them need to be updated). That screen would have the location for sure, and I could add size. 😁

Now that sounds much more comprehensive!
