I've played around with the idea of taking nomad forward to convergency grounds and I've started with a quick mockup for the launcher.

The concept is to keep the components used on the Nomad apps, such as the panel drawers.
Here the idea is to make the launcher similar to a global drawer on the left side, that takes all the high of the screen and on small screen devices take the full screen space.
There's a search app on top to find apps, places and maybe files, the results are shown on a list just below.
If there's not a query being searched then the apps are shown and some places... etc.

To consider:
Apps section will have a max height and then to browse for more apps it would be by scrolling vertically.
Have the power options displayed, maybe at the bottom.
Make use of sections, such as recently installed apps, most used apps and recent apps
