The Research Project Calculator has a very basic skin/theming mechanism. You can simply copy the default rpc theme and make your own changes.
Beware when upgrading, if forms or utility templates are modified you may need to port your changes in. At this time, it is mostly only advisable to make changes to cascading stylesheets.
We will detail in the CHANGELOG if any changes occur in form templates.
