I'm thinking of relocating the Raspberry Pi and microphone setup at my parent's house for improved audio reception. The neighboring house, which is taller and positioned between our home and the lake, is currently blocking a significant portion of the audio signal. Another house uphill also dampens the signals coming from the field - a source of fascinating audio during migration season.
I'm contemplating purchasing a telescopic pole, similar to this FW-TS-1000 (but cheaper), with a length of 5-10m. I'm planning to mount it on the roof using a sunshade stand and attach two microphones (EM272 or similar as suggested by @DD4WH) at the tip. This should hopefully enhance the audibility of birds from the lake and field.
What do you think - is it a stupid idea?
I have two main concerns:
I understand that this might not be completely within legal boundaries, but I appreciate any thoughts or suggestions you may have.
