There is already an 'Upload' button. You can add images with that.
Currently the text color is only black and white. Adding text color option will be very useful for this issue.

https://bgrins.github.io/spectrum/ - this one OK? lightest one I could find.

or should we use HTML5 color input ? any thoughts?

We need a better UI for text input as well as collection. I am working on it and had shared the basic draft with @zmattra and @thegeorgeous.
